SDCC Exclusive: Bluey Robinson Opens Up About Season Two Of ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’

Bluey Robinson visited San Diego Comic Con last weekend to promote season two of his hit series, The Librarians: The Next Chapter. Before heading out to the show’s panel, Bluey caught up with BB, and fellow press, to dicuss the wild season tow come for fans.

On working on an American television series: “It’s been really special. I’m from South London, so getting the chance to be part of an American show and perform with an American accent has been a huge moment for me. Even getting ready for Comic-Con, I found myself feeling a little emotional. I just thought, ‘I’m at San Diego Comic-Con promoting Season 2 of our show.’ It made me stop and appreciate how fortunate I am. It’s a big deal, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

On how his character’s skills builds to the team’s greatest strength: “We all fill in the gaps for one another. If one character doesn’t have the knowledge to solve a problem, someone else steps in. Whether it’s history, science, or something completely unexpected, everybody has their moment to contribute. That’s what makes the team work—you never feel like one person can do everything on their own.”

On how the cast developed their chemistry: “It happened pretty naturally. Our characters were meeting for the first time, and we were too, so it was actually very easy to play. We were also all living away from home while filming, so we naturally spent a lot of time together. It would’ve been pretty difficult if we hadn’t gotten along, but luckily we really did. Those friendships made the whole experience much more enjoyable.”

On whether there will be a lot bloopers for fans to see this season: “We all completely lose our minds sometimes, especially toward the end of a long shooting day. It’s one of those situations where something tiny becomes unbelievably funny because everyone’s exhausted. You probably had to be there, but there was definitely no shortage of laughs.”

On whether the cast spent much time together outside of work: “Definitely. Being in another country meant we relied on each other quite a bit. We’d go out together, explore Belgrade, grab dinner, watch movies, and just enjoy each other’s company. Those friendships carried over into the work, and I think audiences can really see that on screen.”

On whether working on The Librarians changed the way you think about mythology and folklore: “It has. My character is a historian, so he spends a lot of time talking about myths, legends, and historical events. Through the scripts I ended up learning all kinds of interesting facts—especially about Serbian history and folklore—that I never knew before. It’s one of those unexpected benefits of doing a show like this. You come away having learned something new.”

On what it is like seeing the finished episodes after filming wraps: “It’s always exciting because so much gets added after we’ve wrapped. The visual effects, the sound design—even the smallest magical movements completely transform a scene. When we’re filming, we’re often imagining what everything will look like. Watching the finished episodes lets us experience the magic alongside the audience.”

On if he could create a magical artifact from the series what would it be: “I’d want something that lets me fly. Teleportation would be amazing, but I think I’d actually love the feeling of flying. I’d even want to go into space and see what’s out there. That sense of adventure really appeals to me.”

On what mythical creature would she would most like to see appear on the show: “I’d love to see a unicorn. I think there’s something timeless and magical about unicorns that would fit perfectly into the world of The Librarians.”

On being able to improvise this season: “The writers gave us enough freedom to play around with scenes without ever losing what was on the page. We could add little moments that felt true to our characters or try something funny to see if it worked. Quite a few of those moments actually made it into the final episodes, which is always rewarding. Maybe we should start asking for writing credits!”

On his dream guest star: “Julia Roberts. That would be incredible.”

On what book she’d recommend to readers visiting the Library: “I’d recommend The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s one of those books that reminds you to follow your purpose and stay open to the journey life takes you on. I think that’s a message that fits The Librarians perfectly.”

Season two of The Librarians: The Next Chapter premieres on TNT on August 2.
