Julie Andrews Not Returning for ‘Princess Diaries 3’

Julie Andrews will not be returning for Princess Diaries 3. The legendary actress revealed to InStyle Magazine she has passed on the pic.
Andrews told the magazine, “I think I’m retired, really, would be about the best description for that. [The film’s creative team] asked me all last year if I would be keen to do it. It was very very hard to say ‘no,’ but I did because I thought I had a wonderful ride, and this one I felt would flourish very well and wouldn’t need Granny going in there at my age.”
Though I don’t love the idea of Andrews not returning to play Princess Mia’s (Anne Hathaway) grandmother, Queen Clarisse, the original novels were never about the Queen. The Meg Cabot stories were focused solely on Mia and her life adjusting to her new duties.
I think the third movie, if it does ever get off the ground, will be just as fun as the first two. What do you guys think?
