SDCC Exclusive: Aimee Garcia Chats The New Season Of ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’
Aimee Garcia attended San Diego Comic Con this past weekend. The actress was on hand to chat with BB, and fellow press, about the recently released new season, working with her cast, and so much more.
From your character’s perspective, which character from the original The Walking Dead series would you like to see return:
“I love Michonne. I would love to also be friends with her. And then Maggie and Renata and her can go out for drinks at the bar. Glenn would be nice.”
What was most exciting about joining The Walking Dead: Dead City:
“We’re obviously huge fans of them both. And they’re so talented that they not only created a second, third season, but a whole universe all over the world. There’s something so lovely about death and the apocalypse, and it really touches on losing people and how people respond to losing people.
To have multidimensional characters, and I think family—what’s really unique about the De León family—is that they stuck together during the apocalypse. They weren’t separated, and their strength was staying together. It’s just awesome. Karaoke and spearing a walker in one season, dream come true.”
What was it like working with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan:
“Both of their IQs for TV and film are extraordinary. Lauren’s always trying to make the scene better, trying to dive into how the character can be deeper, even after 17 years. And Jeff—comedy, drama. Magnetic. I would always watch the monitors and you just cannot take your eyes off of Jeff.”
What has the physical experience of filming Dead City been like:
“Raúl and I were gym buddies. We would go to the gym a lot. I do stretch [onset], but there are decapitated walkers all over and blood and guts and intestines, and I’m stretching it out. ”
What location would you like to see explored in The Walking Dead universe:
“Mexico City. It’s just incredible.”
