Mason Thames Surprises Fans with ‘Nimrods’ Pop-Up at SDCC

Mason Thames made a surprise appearance to San Diego Comic Con yesterday, July 24. The actor appeared at the surprise pop-up outside of Petco Park to promote his new movie, Nimrods.
Joined at the pop-up by his costar, Jenna Fischer, the two handed out ice cream and merchandise to the fans as Green Day put on a surprise performance. The pop-up was not announced until yesterday morning, so what a fun surprise for fans who happened to pass by the pop-up’s location.
In the movie, “When Tommy receives a phone call inviting his band to open for Green Day on New Years Eve, he doesn’t realize it’s an elaborate prank by his older brother, Wayne. Desperate to believe his life is about to change, Tommy steals Wayne’s car and begins driving his band from Kansas City to Los Angeles, hell bent on getting there in three days. What follows is a rowdy and uproarious road trip across America, inspired by Green Day’s early days of touring in a van, years before the release of their breakout record Dookie.”
Thames and Fischer are joined in the movie by Mckenna Grace, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz- Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn. It will be released to theaters on August 14.
