Marvel Studio Takes Over Hall H with ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, & a New Black Panther
Marvel Studios closed out Hall H today, July 25 at San Diego Comic Con! In typical Marvel fashion, they welcomed the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige to moderate the panel.
The first bit of news released by Feige during the panel was the casting of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Writer. The film, set to be directed by Shawn Levy, will be released in theaters in 2028. Both Gosling and Levy joined Feige on stage to tease the new project.
Jon Bernthal then took the stage to share a new clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The clip showed The Punisher (Berthnal) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) teaming up to take on The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). The movie is set to be released this coming Friday, July 31.
The next bit of news came with the Feige welcoming directors Anthony and Joe Russo to the stage along with cast members of their new movie, Avengers: Doomsday, including Oscar® winner Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, James Marsden, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn and Tenoch Huerta Mejia. Hayley Atwell also joined the panel, confirming she will return in the new film as Peggy Carter.
Footage from the movie was shown for attendees, but the topic didn’t shed really any new light on the movie. Set to be released this coming December, I have a feeling more news surrounding the movie will be released at D23 next month.
Ryan Reynolds also made a surprise appearance during this portion of the panel. He was dressed as Grey Deadpool and came up to ask a question to the cast.
To wrap up the panel, Feige welcomed Academy Award® winner Ryan Coogler to the stage. Coogler will return to direct Black Panther 3, which will star Letitia Wright and Winston Duke. Set to be released on December 15, 2028, Coogler revealed that David Jonsson will play the new Black Panther. Johnson will play T’Challa’s son, Prince T’Challa II.
I can only assume that whatever happens in Secret Wars will impact what happens in this movie. I feel like that is the only way to explain how T’Challa’s son can go from being a child in Black Panther 2 to a full grown adult.
All in all, not the best Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con. Most of the stuff we learned was already leaked or has been rumored for quite some time. Here’s hoping we get a little more at D23 next month.
