HBO Announces Early Renewal Of ‘Harry Potter’

Coming as no surprise to anyone, HBO has officially renewed Harry Potter for a second season! Based on the beloved book series by J.K. Rowling, the TV adaptation is set to premiere the first season this Christmas on HBO.
The news of a renewal should come as no shock since the network has been adamant about trying to keep filming between seasons as short as possible. With the new season focusing on second book of the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which marks Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content stated, “The plan is to still try and get it — I don’t know if it’s going to be like stop shooting Season 1 on Friday and start Season 2 on Monday,” he said at the time of the projected timeline. “There’ll be a break in there, but we’re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap. For the kids, obviously, but also for viewers, trying to not have massive gaps [between seasons],” he said at the time. “It is a big show, lots of special effects, obviously. Massive operation, but we’re going to do what we can.”
Let’s be honest, no one wants to see these kids playing these characters into their later twenties.
