Broadway at The National Reveals 2026-2027 Season With Showstopping Pizazz

BeautifulBallad got the wonderful opportunity to check out a special sneak peek at the upcoming 2026–2027 season at The National Theatre in Washington D.C. Held this past Tuesday, March 10, at The National Theatre, Broadway at The National pulled out all of the stops to announce the exciting productions set to hit the stage later this year.

Kicking off the show was host and Tony Award and Emmy Award nominee, Brandon Victor Dixon, who took the stage to announce the first production coming to The National Theatre, Hell’s Kitchen. During his appearance, Dixon performed “If I Ain’t Got You” from the show, which is sung by Davis, the character Dixon originated which the show debuted.

Next up was the announcement of Dirty Dancing: The Musical, which was revealed via a pre-recorded message from the productions director, Lonny Price. Jeffrey Schecter then took the stage to announce that the musical, Just In Time would be coming to the D.C. stage with a dreamy performance of “Dream Lover” from said musical. Schecter, who is currently starring in the Broadway production, then introduced his fellow Just In Time cast mate, Gabi Carruba, who performed a stunning rendition of “Who’s Sorry Now?”, also from the musical.

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical was the next show to be announced, and once again a pre-recorded message from the touring cast was played for the reveal. A performance of ‘Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” got the audience bopping and singing as they announced the next musical, The Bodyguard: The Musical, which will come to The National Theatre in 2027.

A fun little promo video was aired for the next show coming to DC, MAYBE HAPPY ENDING, before the artist hit the stage to beautifully perform “The Way That It Has to Be” from the musical. The last show announced obviously needed no introduction because as soon as the name card hit the screen, the audience reaction could only be defined as exuberant. Hamilton would once again be returning to D.C., but this time to The National Theatre. Audience members were so jazzed about this announcement, that Dixon, who came out to perform a wonderful version of “The Room Where It Happens” from the musical, had to ask the techs to restart the track because he missed his cue due to the level of noise.

Along with these exciting announcements, Broadway at The National also revealed seven other shows, considered their special season shows. Those are Mamma Mia!, The Hip Hop Nutcracker, Waitress, Oh, Mary!, The Who’s Tommy, A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical, and Jersey Boys.

Season Packages are available starting now at BroadwayAtTheNational.com. Early buyers may also take advantage of a six-month payment plan, with installments starting at $60 per month. Tickets for individual performances will be announced at a later date.
