Netflix Adds Six More To The Cast For ‘The 99’ers’

Netflix has unveiled six more actors set to join the cast of their upcoming film, The 99’ers. Julia McDermott, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Perry Mattfeld, Annabel O’Hagan, Lizzy Greene, and Isabelle Fuhrman are set to join previously announced Zoey Deutch, Emily Bader, and Emilia Jones in this new creation that is based on the book, The Girls of Summer: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team and How It Changed the World, by Jeré Longman.
Julia will play defender Brandi Chastain, Shaunette as goalkeeper Briana Scurry, Perry as forward/midfielder Michelle Akers, Annabel as team captain and defender Carla Overbeck, Lizzy as midfielder Kristine Lilly, and Isabelle as defender Joy Fawcett. “The 99’ers picks up with the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team in 1999, as they defy the odds to emerge victorious in a dramatic penalty kick shootout against China in the World Cup final, under the scorching summer sun and in a stadium filled with 93,000 fans. This monumental win captivated millions worldwide and forever altered the course of women’s sports.”
Production is set to get underway later this year.
