EXCLUSIVE: Caleb McLaughlin Opens Up About New Film, ‘GOAT’

Sony Pictures Animation released their new animation creation, GOAT, this past weekend. To celebrate the movie’s release, BeautifulBallad got to hear from one of the stars of the flick, Caleb McLaughlin, who voices Will in the film.
During the chat, McLaughlin talked joining the project, his character, Will, and so much more. Check out what he had to say below.
On joining the project: “When I heard it was inspired by Stephen Curry’s upbringing — I was sold.”
On what Will learns from Jett: “She sets the bar high. Everything he does is to be like her. Being a GOAT isn’t easy.”
On seeing early footage: “The baton-passing struggle scene showed the team’s personality. I knew it was a hit.”
On what he relates to in Will: “His germaphobe moments. That’s Caleb.”
On facing adversity: “I auditioned for a big franchise, thought I got the role, then found out another kid got it. They asked me to stay and dance. I felt embarrassed and cried. I decided I wouldn’t let that happen again.”
On takeaway for audiences: “I want people to leave with love, heart, and ambition to dream big.”
