EXCLUSIVE: Gabrielle Union Opens Up About New Film, ‘GOAT’

Sony Pictures Animation released their new animation creation, GOAT, today, February 13. To celebrate, BeautifulBallad got to hear from one of the stars of the flick, Gabrielle Union, who voices Jett in the film.
During the chat, Union talked playing Jett, on advice and love, and so much more. Check out what she had to say below.
On playing Jett and female greatness: “Growing up as an athlete, you look up to greatness and think you’ll never reach it. I was raised to believe greatness looked one way — hard-nosed, disciplined. Over time, I learned different leadership styles. Jett has a similar journey. I hope boys and girls want to emulate her.”
On what Jett and Will bring out in each other: “Their greatness looks different. They push each other. Like great NBA rivalries — you can’t compare different types of greatness. They force each other to dig deeper.”
On the details that went into creating this extravagant world: “The fancy toilet experience? Real. Sneaker culture? Real. The athlete who acts like they don’t care but totally cares? Real. It resonates.”
On advice and dreams: “I once gave Steph [Curry] terrible advice — projecting my own fears. Thankfully he didn’t take it. Don’t let anyone put a ceiling on your dreams. Your dream is yours.”
