EXCLUSIVE: Producer Erick Peyton Talks New Movie, ‘GOAT’
Sony Pictures Animation is gearing up to release its new pic, GOAT, tomorrow, February 13. To celebrate, we got to hear from one of the producers of the movie, Erick Peyton.
During the conversation, Peyton talked how he came to join the project, facing adversity, and so much more. Check out what he had to say below.
On joining the project: “We stepped in about six years ago. Once we knew it was inspirational and set in basketball, we were all in.”
On Tyree’s ]Dillhay] visual pitch for them movie: “Tyree showed us a montage — stickers, shoes, pop artists — and said, “That’s our movie.” It was about culture being infused into everything.”
On facing adversity: “I didn’t get into film school after moving from Florida to California. So I audited classes every day until they let me in. That taught me never to give up.”
On his feelings about this movie: “At Unanimous, we talk about ‘owning the couch’ — creating something the whole family can sit down and watch together. That’s what this film does.”
