Emily Bader To Play Women’s Soccer Legend Mia Hamm In Upcoming Film, ‘The 99’er’s’

Emily Bader is hitting the pitch for next film! The actress is set to star in the upcoming Netflix film, The 99’er’s, based on the 2000 book, The Girls of Summer: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team and How It Changed the World by Jeré Longman.

The actress is set to star as U.S. Soccer legend, Mia Hamm in this upcoming flick. “The story catches up with 1990s U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team in 1999, as they defy the odds to emerge victorious in a dramatic penalty kick shootout against China in the World Cup final, under the scorching summer sun and in a stadium filled with 93,000 fans. This monumental win captivated millions worldwide and forever altered the course of women’s sports.”

As someone who is very invested in Women’s soccer and watched this game live as a wee child, please get professional or college women players for the actual soccer scenes. There is nothing worse than watching a sports film and seeing that the actors don’t have the level of talent needed to showcase that level of play.
