Rachel Zegler Is One Of Glamour UK & US’ “Woman of the Year”

Rachel Zegler is one of Glamour UK & US’ “Woman of the Year”. The young actor was chosen for her amazing year in both film and stage. Highlights from her interview with the amazing Helen Mirren are below.

On dealing with backlash and criticism: “Honestly, I’m a duck. It rolls right off my back these days. I think that there’s this idea that we as public figures can’t have thoughts or feelings because we are like paper dolls to a majority of the public.”

On whether she inherited her ability to sing from any one in her family: “It is a running joke in the family: no one. It’s so funny, nobody sings! [But] my dad has a very great sense of musicality because he played music when he was a kid; he played the bass guitar. He also had a very deep love for musical theater. I was four years old when I saw my first show, and so I was just obsessed from a very young age. But there’s nothing in the family lineage per se; nobody’s an actor. Nobody had that bug. My mum worked in stage crew when she was in high school and otherwise that’s really the only connection we have.”

On other Broadway shows she would like to do: “While I’m still young and sprightly, I would love to do Christine Daaé in Phantom of the Opera. That would be a dream come true because I don’t get the opportunity to return to my soprano operatic training roots. And if ever given the chance, I would love to be Javert in a gender-bent Les Miz.
