‘John Proctor is the Villain’ Heads to the Big Screen

John Proctor Is the Villain is heading to the big screen. The hit Broadway show’s movie rights were just picked up by Universal Pictures, and Tina Fey and Marc Platt are set to produce.

Sadie Sink, who starred in the show, is set to executive produce the picture. Written by Kimberly Belflower, Belflower is set to write the screenplay for the movie.

In the Tony-nominated show, “At a high school in a one-stoplight town in Georgia, an English class is studying The Crucible. The students, however, are more preoccupied with navigating young love, sex ed, and a few school scandals than what’s in their syllabus. But as they delve into this literary classic, the class begins to question the play’s perspective, especially whether John Proctor is the hero they’ve been taught he is.”
