Elle Fanning Joins the Cast of ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

After days of waiting, the news many Hunger Games fans have been waiting for was announced today, May 20! Elle Fanning would star as Effie Trinket in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Effie, who was first introduced in The Hunger Games series, and was played by Elizabeth Banks in the movies, is much younger when we meet her in Sunrise on the Reaping. In the prequel, Effie is a stylist who helps dress District 12 tribute, Haymitch Abernathy (played by Joseph Zada) as he prepares to take part in the 50th Hunger Games.

Filming on the movie is set to begin later this Summer. It will be released to theaters on November 20, 2026.
