Take Your First Look at Andy Serkis’ Animated Adaptation of ‘Animal Farm’

Variety has unveiled the first look at Andy Serkis’ new animated movie, Animal Farm. Based on the novel by George Orwell, the cast features the voices of Serkis, Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani.

In Animal Farm, “A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. Thus the stage is set for one of the most telling satiric fables ever penned—a razor-edged fairy tale for grown-ups that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible.”

This was a book that everyone I knew had to read in high school, so it will be interesting to see Serkis’ take on the novel. The book is good, so I highly recommend giving it a go if you haven’t read it.

The movie is slated to be released later this year.
