Olivia Rodrigo Named TIME’s Entertainer of the Year

Olivia Rodrigo has been named TIME’s Entertainer of the Year 2021. This is the first time Rodrigo has been named to TIME’s annual list, but I am going to guess it won’t be the last.

In the issue, Rodrigo talks her career, adding writing credits to two songs on her album, Sour, Gwen Stefani, writing her own music, and so much more. Highlights can be read below.

On adding writing credits to two songs on her album: “It was really frustrating to see people discredit and deny my creativity. It seems like people get funny about things when songs become really popular.”

On writing her own music: “At the core of it, all my songs are about me and my experiences and my feelings. It’s an important lesson in controlling your own narrative too,”
