REVIEW: Quibi Launches Its Unscripted Slate with Thanks a Million, &Music and Punk’d

Today, April 6, the newest streaming platform, Quibi, officially launched. The mobile streaming platform features a variety of different unscripted series including Thanks a Million, &Music, and Punk’d.

Thanks a Million is a feel good show that follows a different celebrity as they give an individual who made an impact on their life $100,000. The celebrity then asks the individual to take $50,000 of the $100,000 and give it to someone who has made an impact on their life. The show is a tearjerker, but will warm your heart at the same time. If you are looking for something positive among all the darkness that is surrounding the world right now, this show is for you.

&Music takes a look inside some of the most creative minds in the music industry. From Ariana Grande’s choreographers, Scott and Brian Nicholson to music producer Andrew Watt, the show focuses on what it takes to bring the music industry to life. Take Ariana’s episode for example. The episode focused on how Scott and Brian Nicholson choreographed Ariana’s Sweetner Tour. It gave an inside look at how they auditioned the dancers for the tour, how they worked with Ariana and so much more. It was really fascinating to see how much work these two did to bring that portion of her tour to life.

Last but not least. For those who never had the chance to watch the original Punk’d with host, Ashton Kutcher, here’s you chance. Chance the Rapper steps in as host of the reboot, but everything else remains the same. Pick a celebrity to prank, gather some accomplices, and pull off said prank. With the episodes only being a max 10 minutes, the pranks are quick and funny. Some of them will have you rolling on the floor in tears while others will just leave you shaking your head. Punk’d is the perfect show to watch if you are looking for something to take your mind off the world and just laugh.

If I had to pick one to watch first, it would be Punk’d. I really enjoyed the original series and this one is just as fun. Next, I would recommend &Music because it really was fascinating to see all the cogs that help bring the music industry to life. Last would be Thanks a Million. I liked this show, but, for me, you have to be in the right mood to watch it.
