Lucy Hale Talks RENT, NYE and More with Parade

Lucy Hale chatted with Parade about her upcoming hosting gig on New Year’s Eve. Lucy will return to New Orleans this Monday, December 31, to co-host Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2019.

In her interview, Lucy talks what performances she is excited to see, what’s to come from her in 2019, possibly starring in a live action musical, and so much more. Highlights can be found below.

On what performances she is excited to see: “I love Dua Lipa, we have the same haircut, so I love her. And Kelsea Ballerini is actually a friend of mine, so I’m excited to see her. She has that song with The Chainsmokers, so it’s going to be amazing. I wish I could be everywhere to see all the live performances.”

On what’s to come for her in 2019: “I just finished filming that [A Nice Girl Like You] a couple weeks ago. I’ve never really done a lot of comedy, so that was new for me, but it was a really good time, a really cute story that follows this girl who is kind of lost, and goes through all these funny situations to figure out the person that she wants to be. It’s a coming-of-age comedy, I guess you could call it.

So, I’ve got that, and then I start filming a Sony and Blumhouse film in January called Fantasy Island, which is the remake of the ‘80s show Fantasy Island, but will take a darker turn. It’s a thriller, and we’re filming in a different country, which I’ve never done before, so I’m excited about that.

On possibly starring in a live action musical: “I actually auditioned for the Rent that they’re doing right now. I’ve auditioned for a couple of them, and I’ve gotten close, and then things just didn’t work out. So, yes, I would definitely love to do that. I think at some point, it’ll work out in some way, shape, or form, but I love music, and I think that if I can find a way to utilize it through acting, I think that that more works for where I’m at in life right now. So yeah, we’ll see, but I am excited to see Rent. I think that they found a really good cast, and I’m excited to see what they do with it.”

I can’t wait to watch her on Monday. Also, can she please star in a live action musical! I would love to see her in one.
