Madelaine Petsch Opens Up About Cheryl Blossom, Vanessa Morgan & The Riverdale Cast In New Interview

Madelaine Petsch opened up about the new season of Riverdale in a new interview. Madelaine will be reprising her role as mean girl, Cheryl Blossom, during the show’s second season. Highlights are below.

On whether or not Cheryl will continue to be a mean girl next season: “The undercurrent for Cheryl this season is just that she wants to be loved and she needs to be loved. She hasn’t felt love since her brother left the world. You do see a lot of camaraderie between the gang and her in very interesting ways. Cheryl goes through a couple of really huge things that will torture her, and the gang is there for her every single time. She will continue to give the one liners, but there will be a little bit more camaraderie. She does make a couple of friends this season and ultimately she will get a love interest.”

On working with her BFF, Vanessa Morgan [Toni Topaz]: “Yeah. It’s actually funny, she tested for Josie whenever we were testing for the pilot of Riverdale, and I met her in that process. You know when you just become instant best friends with someone? That’s exactly what happened with us. We spent every day together that I was in L.A. I mean, she’s like one of my favorite people on the planet, so her being on the show is just like the cherry on top.”

On her relationship with the cast off-screen: “We do a lot of stuff together. I know a lot of casts say they’re like a family, but we really are. It just feels like going to work isn’t going to work, it feels like you’re going home. That’s where I’m the most comfortable; these are the people I’m most comfortable with. We’re constantly texting, we’re constantly talking, and we’re always together when we’re off work. It’s actually a really, really lovely dynamic and I’ve heard it’s extremely rare, so I’m not taking any of it for granted.”
