Zendaya, John Boyega and Chloe Grace Moretz Cover Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” Issue

Zendaya, John Boyega and Chloe Grace Moretz are on the cover of Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” issue. The annual issue has three separate covers featuring the stars.

In the issue, Zendaya talked Spider-Man: Homecoming, meeting Tom Holland, why she chose to go back to Disney, and so much more. John talked Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Carrie Fisher, Game of Thrones, Detroit, while Chloe talked her future projects, her family, and equality. Highlights from their interviews can be found below.

Zendaya on auditioning with Tom: “He says when we first met it was super awkward because he went for a handshake and I went for a hug,” she says. “But I don’t remember that. I thought it was cool.” She had one concern after walking through the door. “I was worried because he’s so much shorter than me,” she says. “I was like, ‘Damn it! It’s going to be weird because I’m super tall.’ But then we ended up doing the audition sitting. So that was good.”

Zendaya on going back to Disney: “When I left Disney, there weren’t any families of color on the channel,” she says. “I thought that was a big reason why I wanted to come back. I think I’ve successfully made a show that not only allows for representation but sees girls in a powerful and strong position.”

John on Carrie Fisher: “Carrie Fisher means freedom,. She influenced people to be authentic and say what you want, however you want. I’ll miss her energy. You were always going to hear Carrie Fisher somewhere saying something that she has no business saying, that makes everybody laugh.”

John on being in Star Wars: “There’s this inner kid to John on the set that’s just so excited about playing a ‘Star Wars’ character and thinks it’s really, really cool. That shines through on-screen like a laser.”

Chloe on future projects: “I want to do things that introduce messages to people, and they show a side of life that maybe people aren’t privy to,”

Chloe on her family: “They’ve all helped me stay true to who I am. Whenever I date someone, I’m like, it’s family first, my career second and you third. That’s just the way it is, and I’m sorry.”
