Valerian And The City Of Thousand Planets held a press conference at San Diego Comic Con last week to celebrate the upcoming Sci-Fi flick. Luc Besson, Virginie Besson-Silla, Dane Dehaan, and Cara Delevingne were all in attendance for the event.

During the conference, Luc spoke about his decision to cast Dane and Cara as Valerian and Laureline. He stated, “I was impressed by both of them when I met them. They really fit the image I had.”

Cara, on the other hand, spoke about working with Luc stating, “It really felt like he wanted us to reach that place naturally. As well as kind of guiding us, instead of telling us, what he wanted it was more kind of doing it together so we could find that in ourselves.”

Dane wrapped up the conference by chatting, briefly, about his training for the role of Valerian. He revealed, “It’s a super physical film. The training for me was a huge part. Not only how I looked physically, but also the mentality going into each day. I would show up in the morning and workout before we got to set and it would just pump me up for the day”.

Overall, the cast and crew couldn’t divulge too much information from the film. However, everyone in attendance had nothing but positive things to say about their time on set and that they were very excited for fans to see it next year.

Valerian And The City Of Thousand Planets opens on July 21, 2017!
