Ian Somerhalder Clears Up TVD End Date Comment

Last Sunday, April 10, Ian Somerhalder made a statement at Walker Stalker Con regarding the last season of The Vampire Diaries. Ian told fans at the Con that Season 8 would be the last season of the show, but it seems that is not what Ian meant at all.

Ian released a new statement via his Twitter clearing up last Sunday’s comment saying,

“Hey all, so… Last weekend I talked to an audience at a Q&A about the end of #TVD and how excited I was to make what I believe – my last year – be as great as possible. Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end. Cut-to the press running stories that the show would be done after Season 8. Thing is, the people who actually make that decision (the CW and WB) haven’t made it yet! So let’s take things one step at a time: Season 7 wrap, vacation, lots of sleep, let the writers get started on Season 8, and then we’ll all see where we go from there. Until then, much love 😉
Love,
Ian”

The show is currently in its seventh season on the CW. It has been renewed for a eighth season, which many fans believe will be the show’s last. TVD star Kat Graham has already confirmed that she will be leaving the show after next season, so we will just have to see if any other news regarding the season is released within the next couple of weeks.

My guess is they will make any big announcements regarding the show at the CW Upfront in May or at San Diego Comic Con in July.
