Taylor Pens A Letter To Apple Music

Taylor Swift penned an open letter to Apple’s new streaming site, Apple Music, via her Tumblr. This new letter focuses on why Taylor opted to pull her 1989 album from the streaming site.

In the letter, Taylor discusses how she is “shocked” to see how Apple Music will not be paying artists, producers, writers, etc for the first three months of the service. She goes on to that this letter isn’t about her, but about the newcomers in the business who will not be paid for the first three months.

Finally, Taylor wraps the letter stating “I hope that soon I can join them in the progression towards a streaming model that seems fair to those who create this music. I think this could be the platform that gets it right.”

You can read Taylor’s full letter here.

Honestly, I can see where she is coming from, but I just don’t agree with paid streaming.

UPDATE: Apple has responded to Taylor’s letter letting her and other artists know they will be paid during the trial period and after the trial period has concluded. You can check out the Tweets from Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
