Every Move I Make

Captain America: The Winter Solider is out today, April 4, and BeautifulBallad was lucky enough to catch an early screening of Marvel’s follow up to the 2011 summer blockbuster . The movie takes place two years after the events in the Avengers  and  reunites Captain America, played by Chris Evans with his Avengers costar, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Captain America, now working for S.H.E.I.L.D., has his morals put to the test as he and Black Widow begin to unravel a betrayal while trying to stay one step ahead of a ghost assassin known as the Winter Soldier.  The sequel is a fast paced political thriller that really focuses  on Captain America unlike the first film in his series.

Chris Evans once again brings to life the superhero and, in my opinion, did a fantastic job.  His ability to show the difficulties Steve Roger faces after thawing out  and how he manages to overcome these obstacles while still keep his morals in check was exceptional.

Scarlett does a great job proving why she was chosen to play the Black Widow by managing to find the perfect balance between an emotionless assassin and a troubled woman . Her scenes with Chris showed  great chemistry and were enjoyable to watch.

Newcomer, Anthony Mackie was a breath of fresh air to what could have been a humorless movie. His  bromance with Chris and the delivery of his lines added to the film immensely. Sebastian Stan, who plays the Winter Soldier, had very little dialogue but did well showing the struggles the Winter Soldier faces when he realizes not everything is as it seems.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a wonderful follow-up to its predecessor.  This action flick will keep audiences on the edge of their seat and leave them questioning just how the events at the end of the film will affect the Marvel characters to come.

FYI just like with any Marvel movie stay until the end of the credits. 🙂
