Music Sounds Better With You
Big Time Rush and One Direction took the stage last night, March 2, at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA as part of their Better With U tour!
Jackson Guthy opened up the show with a short set including his next single “Make Up Your Mind”. Despite being relatively unknown, he did a nice job of getting the crowd amped for One Direction.
One Direction took the stage right around 7:30 to, easily, the loudest screams of the night. Although Big Time Rush was the headline, a large part of the audience was there to see the British boy band.
One Direction opened with “I Want” and sang their hits, “Moments”, “One Thing”, and their currently single, “What Makes You Beautiful”. The boys were missing their bandmate, Zayn Malik who returned home to England after a death in the family.
All the boys did a nice job of covering Zayn’s singing parts and it was refreshing to hear them singing live. Niall Horan kept the crowd entertained with his high jumps and Louis Tomlinson’s thrusts during “Up All Night” were a definite highlight.
For their first time performing in the United States, One Direction was exceptionally charming. At certain points the audience was singing louder than the boys which was very entertaining.
Big Time Rush closed out the show, kicking off their set with their theme song “Big Time Rush”. They performed their hits, “If I Ruled the World”, “Music Sounds Better With U” and “Boyfriend”.
I was a bit disappointed to see Big Time Rush lip-syncing parts of their songs but their dance moves were very fun. Kendall Schmidt did a fantastic job dancing, he had so much energy.
The show was awesome and each act performed well. Big Time Rush was more polished, with matching outfits and dance moves. However, One Direction’s boundless energy and individuality was a bigger hit with the audience.
After this tour, I think it is safe to say we can expect big things from One Direction.
