Daisy Ridley Covers The December Issue Of ELLE UK

November 13, 2017 - Author: admin

Daisy Ridley is on the cover of the December issue of ELLE UK. The young actress is on the cover to promote her new film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Highlights from her interview are below.

On being under more pressure for Last Jedi: “I didn’t think I was good in the first film, and I was struggling with that.”

On not working with John Boyega as much in this film: “It’s not this big adventure that I’m on with John [unlike the first movie]. I was thinking I did the first one because I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into and I was having loads of fun, and suddenly I’m realising what this actually is, and I can’t f**king do this. I’m highly dramatic – so it’s all ‘oh my God’…finally I was like ‘Oh yeah, this is working.'”

You can check out even more from her issue here or pick up your own copy of November 14. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15.

REVIEW: Murder on the Orient Express Get Derailed Before It Ends

November 10, 2017 - Author: admin

Every day strangers from all over the world travel together by train, plane or automobile to get to their desired location. They come from all over the world with one goal in mind: get to the destination as fast as possible and in one piece. The passengers on the Orient Express, however, had other possibilities in mind.

Based on the novel by Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express follows Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), the greatest detective in the world. Hercule is returning to London after successfully closing his last case. He is travelling via the Orient Express when another passenger is murdered. It is now up to Hercule to find out the murderer before he or she can either flee or strike again.

Directed by Branagh, the film is solid, but lackluster. The story builds and builds, leaving you expecting a grand finale, but then peters out. Several characters are introduced but there isn’t any character development for any of
them but the lead, Hercule. It’s a shame because the film is filled with such a talented cast but falls flat.

Branagh leads the cast and does a great job. His character was hard to understand at certain points, but he brought a lot of fun to a character that could have been very dull. Michelle Pfeiffer, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, and Derek Jacobi play passengers and were a delight to see on screen together.

It’s a real shame the script wasn’t stronger to give these big names something to work with. Branagh and the rest of the crew are able to make you feel as if you’re on the train living the story with them but that’s not enough to save the film.

If you want to see this film, wait until it comes out on DVD or On Demand. It is a great film to watch
while you are at home cuddled up on a snowy afternoon.

Grade: C+

Daisy Ridley Covers V Magazine

October 31, 2017 - Author: admin

Daisy Ridley is on the cover of V Magazine. The Star Wars star is on the cover of the magazine’s V110 “Star Power” magazine.

For the issue, Adam Driver, Daisy’s Star Wars costar, conducted the interview. The two talked about Daisy’s Star Wars character Rey, Murder on the Orient Express, timing and her future plans, what she loves about Star Wars and so much more. Highlights can be found below.

On timing and her future plans: “My first lead role was ridiculous and amazing for a first film, and for a film in general. I have an amazing agent. I feel really fucking lucky. I’m a big believer in timing and I didn’t have a job after [Star Wars], and I thought, Oh my God, I thought my life was going to be busier now. I had to take a couple weeks off, and then Orient came up, so that felt perfect.

Then I was able to fit in two things easily, both of which I really wanted to do. I thought timing wouldn’t work out, but it did. I don’t have a plan. There are things I want to do that I’m too scared to do currently: I really want to do a play and right now, I feel like I’m barely finding my legs doing film. So, eventually I’ll do that. There is no plan. For the most part, it’s just floating on the breeze.”

On what she loves about Star Wars: “I don’t know if I’ve ever properly thought about it. I love coming into the makeup trailer—everyone is there, you say good morning, and you get a little cuddle from people. I like the structure of that, of really being part of something for the duration of the day. The second [Star Wars], it’s so weird, because in my mind, they’re very separated. I just felt so distant.

My head was so fucked after the first one came out. It was strange getting back into it, and it felt familiar and comforting. I suddenly felt really seen in a way [after the first Star Wars], which was so weird. Then, back at work, you’re just you and it’s not a big deal. You’re just at work: You’re doing your job and everyone else is doing their job. It’s just me being me. I just really liked being part of something where you’re one of a whole. When filming, you’re always part of a thing. Becoming besties with you was the best thing.”
