REVIEW: Isn’t It Romantic is a Great Movie to See for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and Warner Brothers shoots to warm up hearts with their new romantic comedy, Isn’t It Romantic. Isn’t It Romantic is a delightful take on the genre and throws a couple of twists and turns in to a film that had the potential to be just another subpar addition.

Isn’t It Romantic follows Natalie (Rebel Wilson), an architect who would rather stay in the shadows than open herself up to the thought of love. After an altercation with a mugger, Natalie finds herself in the one place she hates more than anything in the world: trapped in a romantic comedy. Natalie must find out why she in in the romantic comedy in order for her to return home.

Rebel is fantastic as the negative Natalie. Her comedic timing is on point and she has such great chemistry with everyone she’s on screen with, especially with her Pitch Perfect costar, Adam Devine. Adam plays her friend, Josh and is great in this role. There is something so loveable about his performance you can’t help but root for him. Liam Hemsworth plays swoon-worthy billionaire Blake while Priyanka Chopra plays model, Isabella, who make minor appearances in Natalie’s real world, but play big parts in her journey through the Romantic Comedy world. Liam and Priyanka are fun additions to the movie, Liam’s performance as Blake is quite hysterical and it’s obvious from the joy exhibited on screen he had a blast filming this role.

The nicest thing about Isn’t It Romantic is it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It pokes just enough fun at itself and the romantic comedy genre that audiences will laugh, as well. The dialogue is catchy and the musical numbers are so cheesy, it’s hard to not enjoy every minute of them. The theme of the film is a breath of much needed fresh air for the genre, but don’t go in expecting this to be a game changer to the genre. Sometimes the cheese factor is a little too over the top and the jokes a little too in your face, but overall it is a fun time.

Isn’t It Romantic is a joyful movie to see with friends and/or loved ones this Valentine’s Day. It’s funny and will give you another romantic comedy to add to your lists.
