BB Exclusive: Beyond’s Dilan Gwyn Talks Last Night’s Big Episode with BB

Last night, February 1, Freeform aired a brand new episode of Beyond and if you missed it, you missed one good episode. The episode featured many big moments and the end left many of those who watched last night begging for next week’s episode.

We had the amazing opportunity to chat with one of the stars of the show, Dilan Gwyn, who plays Willa, about last night’s episode. During our chat, we talked about Willa’s outburst at Holden, Charlie’s return, Arthur, her relationship with Luke and so much more. You can check it out below.

On Willa’s outburst at Holden towards the end of the episode:
“It’s been a season and a half coming. She takes her space a little bit and she stands up for herself. She’s like ‘I actually have a lot of things going on in my life that are terrible and they’re affecting me’. It’s the first time she actually talks to Holden and she’s able to talk about herself a little bit. Throughout the season it’s been about Holden, how’s his work life going, how is he feeling, and how is he doing? She kind of explodes a little bit. She’s held it in, held it in, and all of a sudden, because there’s so much happening in her life, she can’t really just sit there and listen to his problems anymore. She’s like ‘Actually, you know what, I can’t right now’. She lets him know how she feels and I’m happy about that because she’s not really the person who shares her feeling very much.”

On how Charlie’s return will impact Willa and Holden:
“Well, well, she obviously doesn’t know about that at this point. We’ll see what happens with it. I obviously can’t say anything. But, I think that is mostly a Holden issue. He’ll have to work that out and probably make a decision. He keeps going back and forth, so he’ll have to make a decision and we will see what decision he makes.”

On if Charlie’s need to hurt Arthur will cause a problem for Charlie and Willa:
“I think even though Willa and Arthur have this weird relationship, he is the only family that she knows, so she will do anything to protect him. She’s not afraid of anything in terms of that. She will do whatever it takes. It’s interesting that whole Charlie/Arthur thing. If, and how, Willa finds out and what she’ll do, I can’t say much about it. I definitely like that plotline. If Willa catches Charlie doing anything you’ll know about it.”

The rest of the interview can be found below the jump. New episodes of Beyond are currently airing Thursday nights, so make sure to check them out.

On if what Arthur dug up will be brought back this season:
“It is kind of a big reveal in a way because she thinks that he’s just losing it. He probably is a little bit because he all of sudden starts talking about Celeste and all that stuff. Last season that wasn’t the case for him and now she’s like ‘Oh my god. He must be losing his mind’. It’s a heavy burden for her to bare. And then when he digs it up, she doesn’t know how to take it. Is he really losing his mind or does he actually have a point? If he does have a point, is it worth pursuing, should we just leave this, or should we go for it? She’s very conflicted because the Realm is always something that is going to pull her. She’s worked on it her whole life and it’s all she’s ever known. At the same time she wants to move away from it and have this normal life with Holden. She’s very conflicted with this thing. What does this book tell us and should we continue with it? But it is definitely telling her, he [Arthur] is not losing it, but what is going on? There’s a lot for her to think about and deal with.”

On Luke and Willa:
“Luke for Willa has become a friend. Maybe her first friend ever and she’s really excited about that. He’s someone who actually listens to her in a real way and I don’t think she’s ever had that. It’s never been about her, so it is interesting for her to have someone who pulls that out of her. He makes her talk about herself. She’s not used to talking about herself and she likes it. Also, he is someone who makes her laugh and she doesn’t get that from Holden. She finds a really good friend in him and she finds someone who supports her. He’s kind of a rock that Holden can’t be, so that’s what’s going on with that.”

On what Dilan is most excited about this season:
“For me, just in general as the actor playing Willa, it was a lot of fun to explore her when she wasn’t a pillar of strength, who knows everything that she does. She knows every move, she knows every step she’s going to take. For me, it was fun to explore this unknown territory. Trying to be this normal girl or this idea of a normal girl. She’s trying to do the stereotype, but she doesn’t succeed very well because she can’t be that normal girl. So it was fun to explore her finding herself and finding out what she really wants in life that’s not connected to Arthur or Holden.”
