TV REVIEW: Marvel’s Runaways Is A Welcome Addition To Marvel Television

Marvel’s Runaways is a wonderful addition to the Marvel Television family. This new Hulu series tells the story of a group of teenagers torn apart by the death of their friend. As the months pass since their friend’s death, the once separated group, comes together during one of their parents’ “Pride” meetings to discuss their feelings. However, it is there that they not only discuss their feelings, but they also discover their parents’ dangerous secret that will change their lives forever.

As far as season premieres go, don’t expect to learn everything about our heroes in the first episode. Marvel Runaway’s really capitalizes on being a streaming show, so the premiere primarily lays the foundation for the season by introducing viewers to the characters and revealing a bit of their backgrounds. As the season progresses though, the story dives deeper into the mystery of the “Pride” and our heroes’ powers.

The talented cast is exceptionally strong. Each actor has their own individual quirks that really bring their characters to life. Allegra Acosta, who plays the group’s youngest member, Molly Hernandez, especially shines in the first episode, along with Rhenzy Feliz, who plays Alex Wilder, the friend tasked with trying to reunite the gang.

Both kids and adults alike will enjoy Marevl’s Runaways. It’s a show that is not afraid to toe the line of adult content, but still manage to hit every check mark on the coming of age teen angst list. Make sure to check it out tomorrow, November 21, when it is released on Hulu and let us know what you think.
