Could The Pretty Little Liars Series Finale Be Introducing Marlene King’s New Show The Perfectionists ft. Emison?!

Earlier this year, I.Marlene King announced that she was adapting another book series by Sara Shepard, The Perfectionists and it looks like we could possibly be meeting the cast in the series finale of Pretty Little Liars.

Five girls have been cast to appear in the two hour series finale and many fans believe that these 5 girls will be playing the leads in the new series. They also think that the finale could be acting as a somewhat back door pilot for the new series. Before I go in to detail on who the girls are and who they are playing, let me tell you a little about the new show.

The Perfectionists is about five girls, Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker, from Beacon Heights, Washington, who at first have nothing in common until they realize they all hate Nolan Hotchkiss. The girls then come up with a hypothetical way to kill him, but fantasy becomes reality when Nolan turns up dead in the exact same manner that the girls had planned their murder of him. Now, the girls must find the real killer before their perfect lives come crashing down.

The five girls rumored to be playing the leads, and who are set to appear in the PLL finale, are Ava Allan, listed as Addison in the finale, Raquel McPeek Rodriguez, listed as Claire, Celesse Rivera, listed as Hadley, Ana Markova, listed as Ava, and Sydney Sweeney, listed as Willa.

We know that Ana and Raquel were listed under The Perfectionists IMDB page, which has since been taken down, as Claire and Ava. We also know that King began adapting the new series earlier this year when she tweeted about it to fans, but the interesting part of her tweet was this little note, “But I am adding a twist on a twist”.

Could this twist be that The Perfectionists will be set in the world of PLL?! At the ATX Festival earlier this month, Marlene teased the possibility of a PLL spin-off with ET saying, “It’s not a for sure thing, but there’s some ideas swirling around out there. Everybody knows I love this world. I love to play in this world and I love these characters, so it would be fun to keep a few of them moving forward in their lives.”

If The Perfectionists is indeed a spin-off, this could be the “Emison” spin-off that was teased by Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pietrese. Last week, the girls were at the opening of Warner Bros. Studio Lot’s PLL exhibit and when asked about the possibility of a spin-off Shay revealed, “You never know what could happen in Rosewood. The possibilities are endless.” Of course, nothing is confirmed at the moment, but if we’ve learned anything over the past seven years, it’s that literally anything can happen when PLL is involved. We’ll hold onto the hope that this goodbye isn’t forever.”

In The Perfectionists, the character Caitlin has two moms, which would be the perfect way to introduce Emily and Alison into the series. Another way could be to use their positions as High School staff members and have them move to Beacon Heights to work at the girls’ high school. Or they could just play secondary characters like the moms on PLL, but it would be the perfect way to connect the two shows. It would also allow for the return of some of our other favorite liars.

There is also going to be a time jump in the finale, which I assume will give us an idea of where we find the Liars at the end of the series, so that could be how they introduce the new show.

This could all just be speculation, but we do know that Marlene has also apparently shot something with Sasha and Janel Parrish for Freeform, so maybe it had something to do with this.

What do you guys think?
