BB Exclusive: Georgie Flores Talks her New Show, Famous in Love w/ BB

We had the amazing opportunity to talk with Georgie Flores about her new show, Famous in Love. Based on the book series by Rebecca Serles, Georgie plays Cassie in the upcoming Freeform series.

To give you a little background on Cassie, she is Paige’s (Bella Thorne) best friend, who is trying to break into the Entertainment Industry, but is finding that easier said than done.

In our interview with the young star, we chatted the show, her character Cassie, the book series compared to the TV series and so much more. Highlights can be found below.

On her new show Famous in Love: “The show is about a girl who goes to this big open call audition and her best friends kind of force her and push her to go. She ends up booking it and it is all about the behind the scenes of what happens and all the drama and politics, which I think will be really cool for young kids to see all the weird things that go on with money and production. Meanwhile, you see the relationship with her two best friends, which I play one of them, Cassie, and what changes and how her friends feel about it and how she feels about it.”

On how she is feeling about the show’s premiere: “I am nervous and excited. I hope people love it!”

On Cassie and Paige’s relationship throughout the season: “You will have to wait and see!”

On what drew her to the role of Cassie: “The character was so fun and so cute. When I first went in, I made it really funny and it wasn’t supposed to be funny, but because of the way it was written I was like this is so cute and funny and weird that I kind of did my own version of it. I didn’t get the script or anything, so I just made it my own. Obviously, when you are at that stage of auditioning I’ll audition for whatever I can and this one I actually liked.”

On when she read the book series by Rebecca Serle: “I read the book as soon as I booked it. I ordered the book on Amazon and read it immediately.”

The rest of our interview with Georgie can be found under the jump. Tomorrow, April 19, we will be posting Part 2 of our interview with her, which will feature details on what’s to come with her character this season.

Famous in Love will premiere on Freeform TONIGHT, April 18 after the 7B premiere of Pretty Little Liars.

If you can’t tune into the premiere via your TV, the entire first season is available to binge digitally starting today!!

On her version of Cassie compared to the book version of Cassie: “It was very different, in the book Cassie has blonde and curly hair and I am definitely not blonde. I took from the book because it really shows the best friend vibe between them [Cassie and Paige] and how close they are, so I definitely got a lot of my Cassie from the book.”

On if she watched Pretty Little Liars before working with Marlene King: “I did, I watched the first season. And it is very different, but there is always a little bit of Marlene in it. At least I know it is going to be good because Marlene with Pretty Little Liars we know we are in good hands.”

On being happy with what you have and not looking at the bad side of things: “Right before I booked the show I worked at a clothing store. I worked there for four years before I booked Famous in Love and I was really bummed out. I was auditioning for so long. I was auditioning for four years nonstop and I wasn’t getting anything. I was getting like little CSI parts, which were awesome but I wanted something bigger. And, I was going to work and I was bummed and then one day I was like, ‘This sucks.’ I have a job, I pay all my own bills. I support myself with this job. It is a great job. They let me go to auditions, how may am I ever going to get to the next level if I am unhappy with where I am right now. And I changed it.

A year before I booked the show, I was happy everyday going to work, I was happy that I had a job. That I could pay for my own car, I could pay for my own bills, pay for my cat and dog food. You know, as simple as it is I was just grateful and then a year later I booked the show.

At every level you are going to be unhappy if you chose to be and look at the downside. Or you can chose to look at everything you do have and I think that is when you move on to the next level.”

On if she thinks there will be happy endings in the future for the show’s characters: “Hopefully they do. Or maybe by the end of Season whatever, let’s say 7, hopefully by the end everyone is happy with what they have.”

On why fans should watch Famous in Love: “I think it is a really fun, cute show. I think it is cool because it like what everyone is in to right now is the behind the scenes. With social media and reality TV, it is like what are they eating, what are they wearing and this is a scripted version of that. And it’s cool because our sets are the actual Warner Bros. lot or our stage and they shoot a bunch of shows on Warner Bros, but you don’t see right behind that wall of where their set is built, so we are literally shooting on the other side of our stage that is behind where our curtain is and we are shooting between our trailers at Warner Bros. And I think that is really cool because it is a real feel of what it is like right behind the cameras, so you get to see both. And I think it’s so cool, watching it I was like it is awesome, my room is right there or that is where I park my car or that is where I walk to get Jamba Juice. If I was a fan watching that I would be so excited because you feel like you are there.
