Dakota Fanning Chats The Alienist & Ocean’s 8 In New Interview

Dakota Fanning recently spoke about her upcoming projects in a new interview. The young actress is currently in Budapest filming for her new show The Alienist. Highlights are below.

On her her move to TV: “The reason I wanted to do it was that, first of all, I loved the story. I love the other actors that I’m working with, and the character that I’m getting to play is a super strong woman, especially for the time in which she lives in. She’s the first woman to work at the New York City Police Department, and that’s really cool. And as for why I wanted to do TV, I think work is work, and telling stories is telling stories, no matter where they’re shown. I’m such a huge fan of television and what’s happening in television, right now. You are able to visit characters and visit a story, week to week, push things in a different way than you can in a film, and you are able to go deeper, simply because you have more time.”

On her role in Ocean’s 8: “I don’t think I can say too much, but it was an awesome experience and really great to be a part of it. I admire the women in it greatly. I think I’m allowed to say that.”

On directing in the future: “Yeah. I definitely have been thinking about it for quite some time, and I’ve always known it would happen, one day, but I’m really starting to be more active in thinking about what that first adventure will be. It’s on my mind. I’m doing The Alienist for awhile, so that won’t be happening for awhile, but I’m definitely mentally ruminating on the whole thing.”

You can check out even more from her interview here. Ocean’s 8 will open in theaters next summer!
