Be So Mean
It looks like there may be some “bad blood” between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Taylor recently revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine that a song off her new album, 1989, titled, “Bad Blood”, is about a female artist who tried to sabotage one of her tours and many people are speculating that the artist in question is Katy.
Taylor told Rolling Stone, “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’
And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business…She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational, you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Apparently, what really went down was three dancers, who originally danced for Katy on her Part of Me Tour, were dancing with Taylor on her Red tour when Katy called them up and asked them to join her Prism Tour. The three dancers decided to then leave Taylor’s tour and join Katy’s.
One of the dancers, Lockhart Brownlie, talked to Australia’s The Examiner last year about touring with both stars and the switch from Taylor’s tour to Katy’s. Brownlie told The Examiner, “I was with Taylor for the first six months. It was a great experience and she’s a great person to work with, but then Katy contacted us. ”
Katy asked the dancers if they would be willing to come join her on her Prism Tour and Browline and the other two dancers said yes. “Obviously we were with Katy for 2 1/2 years, she’s like family to us, so we were, like, `absolutely’. We weren’t really dancing in Taylor’s tour anyway so I had got a little bored and I really wanted to do a promo tour.”
Finally, after Taylor’s interview came out yesterday and the rumors started to fly Katy took to her Twitter saying “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”, which many have speculated to be directed towards Miss Swift.
The two singers use to be pretty friendly with one another early on in their careers. Taylor attended Katy’s birthday party back in 2009 and the two never missed a chance to pose with each other at award shows up until 2011.
However, in 2012, Katy began dating Taylor’s ex John Mayer. This could be the reason why things started to become heated between the two, if the rumors surrounding them are indeed true.
