Sam & Cat’s future may be in jeopardy on Nickelodeon. The network is apparently unsure on whether or not they will be going ahead with a second season of the hit show.

A production date for the next season has been penciled in for later this year, but Nickelodeon has not decided if they will renew the show. The reason for the hold up is because of apparent behind the scenes drama with the show’s stars, Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande.

Deadline is reporting, “There has been talk about discord on the set, with emotions running high and McCurdy and Grande sometimes showing up late. The grueling, 40-episode shoot has been taxing on everyone.”

Adding more fuel to the fire was Jennette’s notable absence from the Kids’ Choice Awards this past Saturday, March 29. Jennette was originally scheduled to attend, but decided not to show last minute.

The star took to her Twitter that night revealing why she did not go saying, ““I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me. I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing.

I want to thank those of you who have reached out with kind words of support, McCurdians and Arianators alike. No matter who or what you support, I believe in supporting fairness first. It has to do with how Nickelodeon treated me. That’s all.”

The show ended up winning big at the KCAs’ taking home “Favorite TV Show”. There has also been rumors that there is a rift between Ariana and Jennette, which might be causing the delay, but sources have revealed that this is not true and the duo is fine.

Hopefully, they get things figured out soon. Though I would understand if they chose not to do a second season. Ariana’s music career is blowing up right now and both stars are entering adulthood. They have been on Nickelodeon for so long, they may be ready to start looking for more adult roles.

What do you guys think?
