It Comes To An End

Ariel Winter and her mother, Chrystal Workman’s, custodial trial began today, December 12. The trial is being held to decide if Chrystal would remain Ariel’s legal guardian or if her sister, Shanelle, would become her guardian.

TMZ has learned, “Based on our sources and conversations at the courthouse, it’s becoming clear … Ariel’s sister, Shanelle, will become her guardian and the mother will essentially lose custodial rights.”

PEOPLE has talked to Ariel’s brother, Jimmy, who attended the trial today about what happened. He said, “It looks like the court is going to order therapy and counseling to help keep us together as a family,”

It was also announced that Ariel’s father will have temporary guardianship over her estate and the family will meet again in March for a new hearing.

Ariel has been living with her sister since filing for emancipation at the end of October. The family was originally supposed to meet in court right before the Thanksgiving holiday, but the court date was pushed to today.
